My First Day on Level 2 Fieldwork!Today was the beginning of an exciting adventure as a Level 2 Fieldwork occupational therapy student!
For those of you who are reading this and are not sure why this is such an exciting moment for me -- or any other OT student -- let me enlighten you. It's exciting because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (which is only 9 months away from graduation day by the way!) and I will be that much closer to working my dream job. It also means that I will learn more in the next 9 months than I would if I had stayed in the classroom. This may come as a surprise because most medical students learn their material in the classroom, however, my profession is more hands-on and can be unpredictable at times. With that in mind, I expect to learn more obscure but pertinent information related to the field of OT thanks to these upcoming experiences! As I mentioned before, I did learn a lot today thanks to my awesome fieldwork educator! She let me observe treatments and documentation, while explaining her reasoning for what she was doing, and told me about her expectations of me as her student. Although these things may not seem like much, they mean a lot to me because they signal the start of my journey as a developing practitioner. I can already tell I am going to learn a lot from this fieldwork rotation, and I look forward to seeing what I learn in the next few months. I'll keep you all posted with the rest of the week's adventures! - Lauryn E. Hill, MOTS

Hospice & Palliative CareThis first blog post is to simply show how my blog will look. Since I am interested in hospice and palliative care, I have decided to provide links to various online resources explaining those topics.
